Tagalong & Discover Purnululu National Park

Join your Kingfisher Tours Aboriginal guide at 8:00 AM at the Bungles Airstrip for a warm welcome with a cup of tea and freshly baked damper. This marks the beginning of a full-day adventure through the awe-inspiring landscapes and rich cultural heritage of Purnululu National Park.

You’ll start the day with a Muntha (Welcome to Country) before venturing into the stunning northern section of the Bungle Bungles to visit Echidna Chasm. Walk the chasm as the sun breaks through the walls and hear the dreamtime story of the cheeky echidna. From there, we’ll journey to the park’s southern end where we'll take you a fascinating bush botanicals trek into the serene beauty of Cathedral Gorge. Learn the local bush tucker, bush medicine and hear the stories of the countrymen who walked here before us. After lunch, your guide will lead you deeper into the Gorge for an unforgettable cultural experience, where traditional sand drawings, stories, songs, and even some dancing offer an immersive insight into the timeless traditions of the land. Make your way out, past ancient rock art and up Picaninny Creek to a spot showcasing panoramic views of the Bungles Range. A full, enriching day for the whole family, experiencing the country with its custodians.

Please remember to bring your own lunch, water bottles, a hat, and a day pack—along with a sense of adventure! The tour involves approximately 10 km of walking, making it a truly engaging way to explore the heart of the Bungle Bungles.

Book now to experience the best of small-group, culturally immersive touring in one of Australia’s most breathtaking landscapes. Let our local Aboriginal guides connect you to the land and stories that make this region so special.

Please Note: This tour is SELF-DRIVE. Guests must have their own 4WD transport into the park.

We are UNABLE to provide lunch on self-drive tours. We strongly recommend bringing light pack lunches and some trail snacks for the walk.
